You don’t need to be afraid of LASIK anymore!

LASIK surgery is now safer than ever before with IntraLase®, the first all-laser technology for LASIK. Because of the precision of the laser, you can now have a greater assurance of a safer procedure and an excellent result. IntraLase® creates a corneal flap of exact diameter, depth, hinge location and architecture for the eye, virtually eliminating sight-threatening complications.

LASIK is actually a two-step process. In the first step, a flap of corneal tissue is created and lifted, and then the surgeon reshapes the underlying corneal tissue with an excimer laser. In traditional LASIK, a hand-held device with a surgical blade is used to create the corneal flap. IntraLase® offers a safer, less invasive approach to this important first step of LASIK with a computer-guided laser. Since 2001, IntraLase® has been used in more than 200,000 successful LASIK procedures. Lingua Vision Surgical Group is one of the first in North Orange County to offer IntraLase®.

How is IntraLase® different from traditional LASIK?
Traditionally, the corneal flap has been made with a hand-held mechanical device with a surgical blade known as a microkeratome. Although this method works well for most patients, the performance of these devices can be unpredictable. With IntraLase®, the flap is made with the precision only a laser can provide: it is 100 times more accurate than a blade. This gives the surgeon more control during the procedure and allows customization of the corneal flap for each patient. IntraLase’s consistent accuracy allows many patients who were not previously eligible for laser vision correction to have LASIK, such as patients with thin corneas.
