  ASA
Today, ASA is an excellent alternative for patients who are not optimal candidates for LASIK. Available to treat common vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, ASA
is most often recommended for patients who have thinner corneas and looser corneal skin.

Advanced Surface Ablation, formerly call PRK, or Photorefractive Keratectomy, embraces earlier forms of laser vision correction techniques but combines new methods that promote faster visual recovery and dramatically improved comfort. During the ASA
procedure, anesthetic drops are applied to each eye for comfort, followed by a gentle removal of the surface layer of the cornea. Using laser treatment, each eye is then reshaped to the appropriate
prescription.

Most patients begin to enjoy their new vision within just a few days after treatment and use medicated eye drops for the first few weeks after the procedure.
