Requirements:

Promptly and professionally assists the doctor in all patient care. Performs technical workups, patient interviews and special testing. Will assist doctor with minor surgery procedures. Accurately performs: Refractions (over refracts and loads prescription into phoropter), Lensometry, Keratometry, Tonometry, Visual fields, Amslers, Pupil Exams and Topography and scribes for doctors. Must be computer literate and have excellent customer service skills.

Preferred qualities:

An upbeat personality with a “can do “attitude. An independent individual who meets deadlines on time and yet is a team player. You must be detail-oriented and able to complete multiple tasks concurrently.

Refractive Surgery Coordinator

Assists in maintaining the refractive surgical schedule for the surgeon. Arranges for pre-op testing and schedules pre-op visits. Understands the ins and outs of insurance and can obtain necessary pre-authorizations. Coordinates and explains all paperwork and consent forms with patient. Can explain the procedures to patients, put them at ease and offer reassurance as needed. Contacts patients prior to surgery to confirm appointments and give instructions. Handles the collection of payment for refractive surgeries. Seeks educational opportunities and accepts responsibility for your own professional growth and development. Must be computer literate and have excellent customer service skills.

Refractive Surgical Technician

Requirements:

Must have one or more years of related work experience in operating room. Thorough knowledge of sterile technique as it applies to operating room. Knowledge of various steps of different operative procedures to be able to anticipate the need of the surgeon. Proper method of handling instruments and supplies before, during and after use. Knowledge of safe and correct positioning of patients for various procedures. Knowledge of various instruments used for each type of operation and the proper set-up of an operating room. Knowledge of literature and new developments in the field with an emphasis on developments relating to the operating room. Must be able to adapt self to various types of personalities and work cooperatively with all members of the staff. Must have the ability to relate to patients in a very short time and secure their confidence for the surgical team. Ability to anticipate needs of the surgeon before such needs arise.
